Cloud Development
Developing software that runs in the cloud is not the same as on-premises. Many developers believe that what they built for on-premises can be “tweaked” to run in the cloud. This is rarely the case will often can result in project failure. Don’t blame the developers, many of the providers of cloud platforms spend significant marketing dollars making it appear way to simple.
Cloud-based software should be written for the cloud from the start. Their are unique technical requirements that must be considered and properly implemented.
An organization should not let this discourage them from considering developing cloud-based software. Custom software – just like commercially available software – gains real benefits from running in the cloud. This can be especially true for fast-growing organizations that expect to need additional capacity for their applications – whether from internal or external demand. Software running in the cloud – especially if engineered correctly – can scale quicker and at significantly less expense than on-premises server hosted applications.
At ThinkPlusPlus we support development of cloud-based software running on the Microsoft Azure platform.
